Wendy Trakes is a lifelong science fiction, fantasy, and horror fan who has been volunteering at conventions throughout the state of Arizona for over 35 years. She is a regular panelist and former committee member for TusCon. Wendy is particularly interested in deeper discussions about culture and intersectionality in science fiction and sci-fi fandom.
In addition, Wendy’s academic background as an internationally traveled archaeologist and researcher, and her recent completion of her master’s in public history provides her with a unique perspective and expertise that she brings to her panel discussions. She is a published author of numerous public history exhibits and articles, the historical research and creation of which further inform her insights and contributions to discussions about science fiction, fantasy, and horror.
Outside of her convention and academic pursuits, Wendy is also the lead singer of a classic rock band called Jen X and the Boomers based out of Phoenix, AZ.
