Bob Nelson is a long time organizer, entrepreneur and writer. In 1994, he co-founded the Essenzaslam Poetry Slam in Mesa, AZ. Also in 1994, he co-founded Anthology magazine with J.A. Giunta, a publication that would run for 10 years. In 1999, he founded the Spokenworld Internet Radio Show, and in 2001 co-founded the literary nonprofit Anthology, Inc.. In 2002 he opened The Anthology Cafe, a poetry themed coffee house.
In 2006, Bob founded Brick Cave Media, originally as a record company. In 2010, Bob directed a full length feature film, Sacrifice, expanding Brick Cave from audio into video. He would go on to direct Yellowstone Sunset, a short and Executive Produce. In 2010, Bob published the first books of Brick Cave Media, the Stories of Haven, an Anthology and Knights of Virtue, a fantasy by J.A. Giunta. In 2012, he officially added Brick Cave Films, Brick Cave Books and Brick Cave Audio to Brick Cave Media.
In 2014, Bob founded The Uninformed Tech Guy podcast and was the producer of the Brick Cave Bookcast as well as the What Are We Doing Here podcast.
In 2016, he founded the Cirque du Livre Writer’s Conference.
In 2017, he founded the Mesa Book Festival, 2019 the Roadside Book Festival and in 2022 the Mesa Book Crawl. He is the founder of Artsgiving Day, a day in May dedicated to financial support of the arts.
Bob has released 2 albums of spoken word material, Boboratory: The Poetry and Musings of Bob Nelson and Poems in the Key of Greed. He has written numerous poetry chapbooks, contributed to The Stories of Haven collection, and has had several short stories published. He co-writes The Chronicles of Tavara Tinker with author Sharon Skinner. His first full length novel, The Twelve Tomes: Collapse of the Kingdom, is due in 2023. He is the Executive Producer of the forthcoming docutainment series Call Me Creative: The Writers to be released in 2023.
